How about a trip to Sydney, NSW, Australia

Sydney, NSW, Australia

SummaryA Brief Summary

While not its capital, Sydney is by far Australia’s largest and most famous city, and October is a great month to cross the harbour bridge (at ground level, or right at the very top, with views of the iconic Opera House if your stomach can handle it), to try your hand at surfing on Bondi beach, or trek inland in the beautiful Blue Mountains. Or perhaps you just want to meander the wide avenues under the warm blue skies as you would in any major city seeing what’s around the next corner, be it cafes, bars, restaurants, sports venues or music events

WeatherAbout the Weather

Sydney’s climate is similar to that of Adelaide and Melbourne in terms of temperatures, but rainfall and sunshine levels vary considerably. The sunniest time of year in Sydney is the end of winter and early spring, before the onset of the warm summer. Average temperatures during summer are not particularly high, but frequently top 40°c during heatwaves which tend to last between a few days and a week at a time. These can be accompanied by very low humidity, strong winds and duststorms and frequently cause wildfires in the suburbs surrounding the city after long dry periods which are becoming increasingly common across the southeast of the country. Sunshine levels from November to May average around 7 hours a day, only dropping slightly during the cloudiest month, June, to just below 6 hours. July is the coolest month, but average temperatures are still around 18°c by day and just below 10°c at night. Sydney can also be hit by infrequent, but violent storms from the south Pacific, bringing large hail, strong winds and thunder and lightning.
