A Brief Summary
Blessed with abundant sunshine, sea breezes, spectacular sunsets and white-washed buildings set against an azure sky, the Greek Islands in September are genuinely difficult to beat. Each island is a little different from the others, so a little homework is needed to pick the one just right for you, ranging from the larger, busier islands such as Crete, Lesbos or Rhodes, to much quieter, far more traditional islands like Leros, Sifnos or Ios. Wherever you go, the food and locals will be delightful in equal measure, and the welcome as warm as the weather.

About the Weather
Hot, dry, sunny summers are the norm across the islands of the Aegean, with temperatures above 30°c common from mid-Jun to early Sep. Rainfall in these months is rare. Autumns are mostly dry and sunny, although after mid-Oct heavy showers and storms can develop, but skies remain bright and temperatures average 22°c in Oct and 19°c in Nov. Winters are mild, but quite wet and storms pass through once or twice a month with strong winds. Spring is bright and increasingly dry and warm as you head into summer, although seldom very hot due to the strong breezes that develop and continue through the summer months.
