How about a trip to Vietnam South

Vietnam South Dec

SummaryA Brief Summary

This is the true tropics of Vietnam and where the mighty Mekong is king! Everything south of Phan Thiet, a relatively undeveloped town with a good beach, is dominated by the flat, immensely fertile soils of the Mekong Delta. Farming here is huge business and the produce of this region feeds millions of people a year as a result of the river and the hot and sunny climate. Smack bang in the middle you’ll find Ho Chi Minh City, named after the Vietnamese revolutionary, former capital of Vietnam and by far the country’s largest city (also sometimes referred to and previously known as, Saigon!).
HCM is a vast, very, very busy, chaotic, sprawling wonder typical of many large Southeast Asian cities. It is never really quiet here and little things like crossing the road will become worthy of an Instagram post or Facebook update! However, don’t let the madness put you off, because it’s a cracking city with bucket loads to see and do. As with much of Vietnam, history is big here and the museums are well worth a good long amble around to fully appreciate and recognise the horrors of their past and events like the Vietnam War (as well as being airconditioned havens from the heat!). Large and beautiful religious sights and temples will keep your camera busy and the endless restaurants here serving wonderful local food, will keep your taste buds interested for weeks! Theatres, especially small and short puppet shows here are also growing in scale and significance, many of which are outdoors and surprisingly enjoyable and a way to learn more about the culture of this fascinating and genuinely friendly country

WeatherAbout the Weather

At complete odds with Hanoi in the north of Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City’s “winters”, from December to April, are almost entirely dry, sunny and hot, averaging well above 30°c. Humidity levels increase during May as the rainy season sets in, with sunshine levels dropping to below 6 hours a day and rainfall levels increasing dramatically. July to October sees very heavy rain most days, with significant risk of flooding and very high humidity, often above 85%. Temperatures remain above 31°c during this time making it feel very muggy and oppressive. Ho Chi Minh City frequently sees typhoons crossing the city, the winds are seldom destructive, but rains very heavy during the passing of these storms
