How about a trip to United States Mid West / Great Plains
A Brief Summary
There are few places in a country which are synonymous with an entire country’s way of existence more so than the US Midwest. The agricultural and often the cultural heartland of the US is a truly vast and often exceptionally flat spread of highly arable land from the northern borders with Canada, all the way down to the northern edge of the southern States. From the Dakotas and Minnesota in the north, to Oklahoma and Missouri in the south, this is everything good and bad the US has to offer its own countrymen and women. Good because it literally feeds America. Bad because when droughts hit and they hit frequently, this causes enormous problems for one of the most developed countries on earth, as their supply chains are so reliant upon this region.
From a tourist perspective, you can go from the utterly sublime taking a leisurely cruise down the Mississippi river, one of the worlds great waterways, to the frankly insane (but immense fun) “chasing” tornados across the plains as they spiral into barely believable meteorological monsters!
In terms of things to do, despite the sheer vastness, the majority of people travelling through here are doing exactly that. Travelling through. This is where the many great roads of the US link north to south and east to west. Stopping off here gives you a variety or large towns and cities in which to stop, such as Kansas City, Oklahoma City, St Louis or Minneapolis on the larger scale and countless smaller, stereotypical midwestern locations.

About the Weather
For the majority of the year, the weather across the US Midwest is rather benign, with hot, sunny summers and cool, or cold, but sunny and occasionally snowy winters. The exception to this is during the period of Apr to Jun when the States see frequent, severe thunderstorms and tornados, some of which are extremely violent and can completely destroy towns and communities, but largely avoid the main cities. Winters are cold and dry with some snow, but seldom heavy and largely bright or sunny skies. Spring sees the first heat of the season from late Mar with temperatures nearing 30°c and 8-9 hours sunshine a day. Summers are hot and sunny, often exceeding 40°c during heatwaves and is the sunniest season of the year, averaging 11 hours a day sunshine, but it is also the wettest time of year with large thunderstorms, often with large, damaging hail and lightning. Autumns are very warm to begin with and sunny, but cool quickly to the cloudiest time of year in Nov and Dec and temperatures of around 8°c
