How about a trip to United States Florida
A Brief Summary
Florida is, compared to the overall US, rather petite and, literally and metaphorically, out on a limb. But, it’s one state, along with California, in which a 2-week holiday could fly by very, very quickly and you’d still have plenty left to see and do. Without writing an entire book on the State, the key things and places to see and do here are as follows:
Miami, a true melting pot of US and Latino populations, with art deco architecture, an amazing nightlife, incredible beaches, wonderful food and year-round brilliant weather. The Keys, a string of islands south of Miami where you’ll find the true tropics, superb beaches, great diving and wonderful little beach huts to spend the evenings soaking up the warm night air. The Everglades, a vast open, wild wetland area with alligators, turtles, birds and plant life galore and many, many airboats hooning around!
The East coast sees the towns of Naples, St Petersburg and Tampa, with their immaculate, vast, ice-white sands and warm waters where everything is centred around being outside in the sunshine, either on land, or in the water. On the west coast, north of Miami you have Fort Lauderdale, a limited city devoid of much in its own right, except being the hub of the most cruise lines in the world and the location for many round the world, or Caribbean cruises! It does have a great beach though! The Kennedy Space Centre, a real gem if there’s a launch on, but even if not, an awe-inspiring place to look around. The scale of things here boggles the mind! Further north historic Daytona Beach and its immense racing pedigree. Then you’re on to Jacksonville, a large town, with a more laid back feel than elsewhere in the state and close to some more beautiful beaches. Then you head inland, to Orlando, the theme park mecca of the world with Universal and Disney 2 goliath parks for all the family! Think you’ll find enough to do here for a holiday… we thought so!

About the Weather
Despite the wet, often thundery summers lasting from June to September, most of Florida remains very sunny year-round. Temperatures during this time are consistently between 30° and 33°, seldom higher, with nights averaging 25-26°c. Sunshine levels are high despite the very heavy, thundery downpours occurring most days in summer. Humidity is also higher during the summer season, averaging about 80%. Autumn is much the same as summer, hot, humid and showery but with plenty of sunshine, although November is several degrees cooler than October. December to April sees very warm days, warm nights and Florida’s driest time of year, with sunny skies and lower humidity. Cold air in the State is rare and while temperatures of 0°c have occurred, this is exceptionally unusual and has only happened on a few occasions. Miami and coastal regions are prone to regular hurricanes and likely to be impacted by at least 1 or 2 a year, although direct hits on major cities are unusual. Due to its very low-lying coastal position, any hurricane striking Florida is liable to cause extensive damage and major flooding.
