How about a trip to Turkey East
A Brief Summary
Turkey is not a land of mountain lakes which resemble the east Asian steppe countries like Kazakhstan or even parts of South America. Except here. It is a high altitude place with a harsh climate, ranging from bitter, snowy winters to blazing summers. Turkey’s largest body of water, highest mountain and most tumultuous border crossings are found here. But so is a part of Turkey you’ll most definitely not find on a beach in Bodrum, or a bazaar in Istanbul! The term “old town” is often used to describe older parts of a newer city, but the part that people want to visit because it has the most authentic feel and appearance. Well every town here is essentially an old town. New city centres are rare and you feel like you’ve gone back a hundred years or so when exploring this region. So if modern architecture, swanky coffee shops and fine dining are your thing, this is not the area for you at all. But if you’re after a cultural eye-opening, in towns dating back older than most countries, set in beautiful landscapes and an essential need to use what limited Turkish you’ve probably picked up, then this is for you!

About the Weather
Eastern Turkey’s climate is one of relative dryness, with only the months of Nov to Apr likely to see rain, and this is often fairly light, falling on 6-8 days a month. Jun to Sep is almost rainless. It is also exceptionally sunny during this dry period as well as hot, although nowhere near as sweltering as desert regions elsewhere due to the altitude here, but temperatures can still climb above 40°c. Winters are bright and cool, but with cold, often very cold nights where temperatures can drop below -20°c on occasion. Spring is warm and sunny with showers and Autumns are warm, dry and sunny
