How about a trip to Spain Northwest
A Brief Summary
If you really hate the heat and are after a climate akin to home, but with a unique Spanish culture, the northwest of Spain, just north of Portugal, is your best bet. The weather here isn’t much different to Cornwall, or Wales, with wind, sunshine and showers common, and hot days virtually non-existent. Unsurprisingly there is a strong association with the sea and rugged coastline here, as well as the verdant and hilly heart of this corner of Spain. There are no large cities here, only moderately sized towns such as A Coruna, Santander (yes, the one the bank is named after), Gijon, Oviedo and Santiago de Compostela. The last of these is probably the most scenic and possibly one of the richest in Spain for history and culture, dating back many hundreds of years. Of the others, Oviedo is your best bet for old-world charm, while A Coruña is the one for a real seaside vibe, with a large harbour and numerous industries based on, or around the coast.
All in all, this is a little home from home in many ways, but one which has a largely laid back and easy going pace of life. So, if this is the sort of thing you’re after, try this corner of Spain and you might just find you’ll be coming back again!

About the Weather
Far north western Spain’s climate is dominated by the north Atlantic, with windy weather in all months and very hot, or very cold weather unknown. Winters here can be very stormy, with torrential rain at times, but are mostly mild, very showery and relatively cloudy, averaging 15°c by day and 8°c by night. Spring is warm and bright, again with showers and breezy, with temperatures only climbing a few °c above winter. Summers are warm and quite sunny, with Jul and Aug seeing 8 hours sunshine a day and only rain on a handful of days a month. Temperatures can exceed 33°c, but this doesn’t happen often. Autumn is warm, but increasingly cloudy and wet
