How about a trip to Spain Central Highlands
A Brief Summary
Spain’s capital city, Madrid, is located in the very heart of the country, at a moderate altitude, on a dry, sunny plateau. Not only is this the geographical heart of the country, but it is very much the historic and cultural heart of the nation too. Aside from Spain’s majestic capital, cities like Toledo, Cáceres, Salamanca and Merida are littered with UNESCO world heritage status’ and a tour round the region will leave you in no doubt as to the depth and wealth of history in this part of Spain, all of which is exceptionally well preserved and presented today.
Salamanca’s Renaissance appeal is renowned throughout Europe, while Merida’s heritage spans from Roman times, with numerous ruins in delightful condition, dotted around the city.
Madrid itself is adorned with magnificent grand avenues and plazas, outstanding gastronomy, a buzzing nightlife and the inevitable museums, art galleries, sporting venues and subtle, but beautiful architecture.
While many head to other more favoured areas of Spain, the close proximity and ease of access to some of Spain’s more subdued delights make this a region you really ought to venture to
