How about a trip to South Africa Southeast
A Brief Summary
Occupying the state of KwaZulu-Natal, the South East of South Africa is slightly different to the rest of the country, both meteorologically and geographically. The only region of South Africa with a sub-tropical climate and probably the most diverse scenery in the country. For starters, anyone who is looking for a breath taking and challenging walking holiday need look no further than the epic Drakensberg, a range of mountains, gorges, waterfalls and valleys that rival anything similar on earth. Away from the craggy wonders of the Drakensberg, you’ll find gently rolling hills and grasslands, large game reserves, a huge number of wilderness trails for mountain biking, as well as a number of historically significant former battlefield locations and villages still representing the scars of past confrontations.
Then you have the coast. Durban is by far the largest city here and a true destination in its own right, with much of the focus, understandably, concentrated on the long, clean, wide sandy bay on which you have every conceivable attraction, hotel, bar, restaurant and amusement. Noted for it’s greenery, Durban is awash with gardens, be they botanical, Japanese, Zulu-inspired, or just big green spaces to relax. It is also, along with Cape Town, South Africa’s premier sporting and active city, with golf, windsurfing, skydiving and so much more all readily accessible.
So if you’re after a true all-season vacation spot, with a whole heap of things to do and see, this corner of South Africa is tricky to beat
