How about a trip to Serbia
A Brief Summary
Although Serbia itself is a very young country, having officially gained full independence as recently as 2006, it’s history is far from juvenile. It forms part of the Balkan region of southeast Europe that has seen multiple wars and battles for supremacy over the centuries and as a result has left countries such as Serbia with extensive cultural and historical mixes within its borders. A landlocked country of mountains and lakes it is quickly being seen as a new destination for travellers wanting a combination of activities, from skiing in winter, to hiking and biking in summer, or a trip down memory lane with multiple towns and cities worth a visit. Belgrade will likely be a starting point, as the nations capital, its largest and most vibrant city with a great entertainment and nightlife vibe to it combined with art, history and culture. From there, Novi Sad and Kragujevic are only a few hours away, while the national parks and mountain resorts lie on the borders with Croatia and Romania

About the Weather
Despite its south eastern European location, Serbia exhibits a near subtropical climate, with rain in all months, cool winters and hot, sunny summers. Winters from Dec to Feb are cold, overcast and can be very snowy in northern and mountainous regions and temperatures below -10°c are not uncommon, however warm days do occur and temperatures can exceed 18°c for a few days. Southern areas have a very similar winter climate but with fewer cold days. Spring is mild to begin with, but very warm by May, reaching 24°c in most areas and seeing 7-8 hours sunshine. Summers are hot, sunny and quite dry with only infrequent thunderstorms and 9 hours a day of sunshine from Jun to Aug. 30°c is common during this period and temperatures above 40°c occur a few times a year. Autumn starts warm and bright in Sep, but cools significantly by mid Oct with much greater cloud cover and a slightly increased chance of rain with higher humidity
