About the Weather
The western region of Saudi Arabia sees some of the highest reliable temperatures across the country during the very long, hot period from Mar to Oct. Outside this period the weather is mostly hot, dry and sunny, with moderate humidity and only very sporadic, light showers and occasional thunderstorms, often not lasting more than an hour or so before the sun returns. Winters average 8-9 hours a day of sunshine, with the rest of the year seeing between 10 and 12 hours a day of clear skies. Summers, from Apr to Sep are extremely hot and temperatures over 45°c should be expected quite often between May and Sep with 50°c being approached a few times a year. Sandstorms don’t tend to occur this far west very often, but can do a few times a year, bringing strong winds and very limited visibility when they do
