How about a trip to Portugal West Coast

Holidays to western Portugal are, rightly, dominated by stays in, or trips to, the country’s capital, Lisbon. This very hilly, but very beautiful city is fast becoming one of Europe’s true city-break gems. Previously overlooked in favour of places like Barcelona, Madrid, Rome and Paris, Lisbon is now catching the eyes and ears of Europe’s “in the know” crowd. And they’re loving it! It is possibly because unlike many of the aforementioned cities, Lisbon doesn’t really have an icon, or main “draw”, people just like the city’s laid back atmosphere, good weather, lovely food, great culture and stunning views.
Away from Lisbon, a small town called Nazare should be on your to-do list if the weather gets stormy. While it might feel a little grim and miserable, head to the farthest west point you can and, from high up, watch as some of the worlds craziest and most skilful surfers ride arguably the largest waves on earth! It really is a sight to behold. On a nice day however, the beaches here are truly delightful and the town is just a pleasant place to spend a day wandering around.
