How about a trip to Portugal Azores
A Brief Summary
Set in the what is almost the middle of the north Atlantic, 1,000m from mainland Europe and 2,500 from North America, you’ll find the Azores. Being so far away from any major landmass, it shouldn’t be a surprise that these islands are not calm, tranquil little blobs of sand and palm trees, but instead a smattering of rugged, raw, volcanic and verdant islands strewn across a fairly large area.
Getting to the Azores is relatively easy, but moving about between islands can often be slightly trickier, especially in winter, when the winds pick up and seas roughen substantially. While here, you’ll encounter some surprisingly dramatic scenery, with an endless list of things to keep you busy and your heart beat elevated. Don’t come here for a beach holiday… although there are beaches, you’d be better off elsewhere, this is about enjoying nature at its finest. Ride mountain bikes, horses or donkeys, trek for days, climb a volcano, set out onto the vast open waters on a fishing trip, or whale watching, and then, and only then, should you head to one of the beautiful black sand beaches (be careful, the sand in summer is exceptionally hot!), for a little R&R.

About the Weather
With its location towards the mid-Atlantic, it is no surprise that the weather here is entirely dominated by the influence of the ocean around it. Temperatures here never rise above 30°c, but also never fall below 5°c. Most months have very high humidity, heavy showers or longer periods of rain and outside the Dec to Feb period are bright or sunny. Jun to Aug sees the lowest rain totals and highest sunshine amounts, although these are only 7 hours a day on average, with clouds never seemingly far away, although protected eastern coasts can see more sunshine and less rainfall. From Oct to Apr winds are strong and calm days are rare, but summers do see a drop in winds and far fewer storms
