How about a trip to Philippines Mindanao
A Brief Summary
Mindanao is probably the Philippines’ most rugged and raw region. That’s not to say it isn’t beautiful, or resembles many peoples idea of paradise in many ways, because it does.. The coastal regions for example have some stunning beaches, beautifully tranquil coves and true Robinson Crusoe islands, while inland dense jungle and forest hide waterfalls, rock pools, inland lagoons and a multitude of mountains, hills and volcanos, all vying for space with sprawling palm plantations and rice paddies.
The major towns of the island are Davao City, General Santos and Cagayan de Oro. None of these cities in their own right are probably worth more than a day or so, unless there is a particular festival on that you’re desperate to catch, but they are great starting and finishing points for exploring the island and its natural wonders, be it on foot, by bike, or on sea!
