How about a trip to Peru South Coast
A Brief Summary
The south coast of Peru is a very, very dry place, and as such doesn’t make for a great holiday… right? Well, perhaps not a 2-week voyage solely to this part of the world, but it’s definitely a place you should voyage to if you’ve made it all the way to Peru in the first place. Yes, Cusco is THE place to visit in Peru, but the town of Arequipa is a genuine delight and one which, despite the complete absence of Inca ruins, is a highly charming, high altitude place of churches, plazas, markets and volcanos. Three of them. All surrounding this unassuming town. Thankfully, all 3 are quiet and have been for some time.
Departing here, your next stop, or perhaps where you’ve just come from, could be the town of Nazca, famous for the Nazca Lines, or better known perhaps to you and I as those huge drawings in the desert. Considering their age and scale, they really are quite the sight and given their position half way to, or from, Lima, well worth stopping off to see

About the Weather
Similar to it’s near region of northern Chile, southern coastal Peru has a desert climate, with little rain and copious sunshine all year. While less absolutely arid and seeing less sunshine than its southerly neighbour, this region still sees very little rain and sunshine from Apr to Dec is extensive and often above 10 hours per day. Only Jan to Mar sees more overcast skies (8 hours a day sunshine) and some probable rainfall, although this is highly changeable from year to year. Temperatures average 22°c year-round with very little deviation and highs above 30°c never recorded. Nights are always cool and can drop below 0°c at any time of year
