How about a trip to Namibia West Coast
A Brief Summary
Namibia’s west coast is one of the strangest places on earth. But in a good way. It is almost entirely rainless and yet on a cool coastline with frequent fogs, it has some spectacularly orange-hued desert dunes barely half an hour inland (Sossusvlei we’re looking at you!), there are some lovely towns, albeit some more famous for, and frequented by, flamingos than humans, and a coastline’s name that must rank as one of the most eerie on earth “The Skeleton Coast”.
The largest coastal town, Swakopmund, is a favourite with Namibians for a seaside getaway, so if you want beach life, this is the best place to head in the country, with decent stretches of sand to laze on, although bear in mind the sea here is rough and cold, even in the height of summer. Filled with colonial buildings from it’s German past, it’s a pretty town with a range of cafes and restaurants good enough to sustain you for a few days. Walvis Bay, a few miles south is equally suited to beach life, but is more famous for its pink lakes and flocks of flamingos.
Further north you have the true Skeleton Coast, a region so-named as a result of the vast number of shipwrecks still clearly visible from the shore, that predominantly took place many, many years ago in the dense fog. Making for a wonderful spectacle, especially as they emerge from the fog, or at sunset, it’s a place you really must visit if you’re here.

About the Weather
A rare, exceptionally dry, sunny and moderately warm climate is found in western coastal regions of Namibia. Only certain regions in Chile and Peru share this climate which sees almost no rain the entire year, temperatures rarely above 30°c, or below 8°c and with humidity in excess of 90% most of the time. Dense morning fog is a daily occurrence as a result of the cold Benguela current, but this burns off by mid-morning to leave largely clear skies and strong sunshine. All months average 7-8 hours of sunshine a day
