How about a trip to Mexico Baja California
A Brief Summary
Named Baja California (BC) and yet having nothing to do with (at least not these days) the US State of the same name, this is the long peninsula protruding to the west of Mexico, and the south of the USs namesake. Officially split into BC Sur (south) and just plain old BC, this strip of land is a very dry, dusty, mountainous region of Mexico that sees little in the way of rainfall and as a result, has little in the way of vegetation.
However, the main reasons for coming to this unique stretch of Mexico is not the flora, but more the fauna in the shape of whale watching, with some of the most reliable whale watching on earth here. Added to that the long sandy beaches and the rugged terrain giving wonderful and challenging hiking and biking terrain. If you’re a fishing fan, then sport fishing on either the west or east coast is simply superb too.
The only outlier to the natural wonders here is found in the very far north, in the border town of Tijuana. Frequented by hundreds of thousands of Mexicans, Americans and other Latinos annually, this is a bustling, busy, chaotic and rather strange place, but one that really does need to be experienced… even if just for a day!

About the Weather
Depending on wind direction the climate here can be either warm, dry and sunny, or very hot, dry and sunny. Days usually range from 20°c in the winter months of Dec to Feb, up to 36°c in Jul and Aug. However, if winds come off the cool Pacific this can bring cooler and foggier weather, especially in spring, although this region is somewhat protected by the hills running through the peninsula with the exposed western shores bearing the full brunt of the cool winds. Winds blowing from the north or north east often bring very hot weather with temperatures in excess of 45°c on rare occasions. Rain is rare and sunshine abundant year-round, although rare eastern Pacific hurricanes can affect this region every few years, bringing rain and strong winds
