How about a trip to Liechtenstein
A Brief Summary
At full speed, heading east to west (or vice versa!), a commercial jet-liner will cross the entire country of Liechtenstein in under 25 seconds.. Hopefully giving you some idea of just how small this European Microstate is! So it’s not worth visiting then… well, not so fast!
While technically connected to both Switzerland and Austria, travelling via the latter on terra firma is only possible on foot through the heavily mountainous terrain in the east of the country. The vast majority of the roads and population live in the west, towards Switzerland in a narrow river valley containing the country’s capital, Vaduz and a spate of vineyards.
If you’re thinking this must be a poor country due to its size, think again, it has some of the highest GDP figures anywhere on earth, is very clean, very safe, and somewhere fast becoming a real outdoor playground. While there is a tiny ski resort, it’s biking and hiking that are the real draw here, with the whole country very much on your “to do” list.
