How about a trip to Lakshadweep

Having been in the shadow (metaphorically, not literally), of neighbouring Maldives for many, many years now, the Lakshadweep (or Laccadive) islands, off the Southwestern coast of India, have gained very little in the way of notoriety for their white sand beaches, swaying palms and turquoise waters.
On the surface (and in fact under the water), there is virtually no difference to their more illustrious neighbour, but look a little closer and you’ll start to see the subtle differences. There are tourist resorts and hotels here, almost all of them have access to water-born activities galore such as water-skiing, snorkelling, scuba diving, sailing, fishing etc. and the food will be delicious, as it is often caught the very day you will eat it. The only difference will be the amount of choice you have and the lack of uber-expensive, ultra-plush massive-number-of-stars hotels by famous brands and hoteliers. If that’s fine by you and you want the same chilled-out vibe for a fraction of the cost with magnificent beaches, give this little archipelago a chance! A real chance!
