A Brief Summary
The northeast of Italy is unlike most of Italy geographically, being very flat and very much centred around one town; Venice. Venice has an enviable and yet unenviable reputation and position. Go on the right day, in the right weather and you’ll find a city that is genuinely unique in the world in its construction, beautiful to behold, friendly, interesting and the right mix of busy and quiet, with plenty to see and do. Go at the wrong time of year and it can be really quite cold or stiflingly hot, sometimes flooded or heavingly busy and you’ll wonder what on earth all the fuss is about… especially if you buy a coffee on St Marks Square and expect much change from 10 Euros!
Timing is everything and if you get it right, not just in Venice, but the wider northeast region of Italy will provide you with a really nice, memorable holiday of wine, Aperol Spritz, nice food, great views and a feeling of calmness you’re unlikely to find elsewhere in Italy, or Europe for that matter

Cool, fairly bright, although sometimes foggy and quite windy winters here see moderate rainfall and little extreme in temperature. Highs above 13°c and below -3°c are unusual. Mar and Apr are bright and mild but with ongoing showers, while May warms up considerably and sees more sunshine. Jun to Aug is very warm or hot, often with periods of very muggy weather, but reliably sunny. Sep to Oct sees temperatures drop from the highs of late summer (c.28°c) to 14°c by the end of Oct, with increased rainfall and much lower sunshine levels.
