How about a trip to Italy Far south (inc. Sicily)

Italy Far south (inc. Sicily) Jan

SummaryA Brief Summary

Volcanos might not be your thing, but Mount Etna is a little different to many others. Not only is it still active, one of the most active on earth, but it is readily visible from much of the island and easily hikeable on a days trip from nearby Catania. Seeing nature, this wild, raw and spectacular, this close is a sight to behold.. and that’s without a minor eruption! With it is something you’ll never forget.
Elsewhere on Europe’s largest island, large towns like Catania and Palermo will provide you with everything you’d need of a small city for a weekend, with rich cultures, great nightlife, huge variety of restaurants and bars and both of which have some wonderful architecture, among which you can relax with some great coffee and enjoy the sunshine.
Sicily is also one place in Italy that “feels” a little different to the rest of the country, not in a good, or bad, way, it just feels like you’re not quite in Italy somehow

WeatherAbout the Weather

This region of Italy has temperatures a few degrees warmer than most other regions of the country, due to the warming influences of the Mediterranean Sea and it’s proximity to northern Africa, from which the highest summer temperatures emanate from Jun to Sep. Summers here are very sunny, with very little rain from late May to early Sep. The rest of Autumn sees much less rainfall than elsewhere in Italy, as do the winter months, with severe storms often only skirting the region, or passing over quickly. Winters are mild and fairly bright, although nights can be cool with high humidity. Spring is sunny and warm. Temperatures average over 30°c from late Jun to Aug and cool through a 25°c Autumn, to highs of 16°c in winter and 20°c in Spring. Very occasional heatwaves can push temperatures here close to 45°c
