How about a trip to Indonesia Sulawesi
A Brief Summary
If you’ve ever tried to picture what it might be like to have a large, tropical island with waterfalls, mountains, rivers, forests and jungle meeting pale blue coastal waters dotted with brightly coloured fish, lapping against soft white sand and hardly a sole about… then large parts of Sulawesi will realise this for you.
If it’s a diving destination you want and the Red Sea, Maldives or Great Barrier Reef are just too commercial for you, then you need to try Sulawesi. Southeast and northeast in particular have some exceptional dive sites and enough to keep you busy for weeks!
Given it’s bizarre shape and poor quality roads and internal infrastructure, travelling around this large island isn’t easy, so it’s strongly advised to do so by plane, or if you have the time, by boat. The inland areas are ruggedly beautiful and if you can get there, they are well worth a trip, but you’ll need to have your patient hat on!
