How about a trip to India Himalayan North

India Himalayan North Jan

SummaryA Brief Summary

If you’ve ever thought to yourself that there’s no snow in India… come to Himachal Pradesh and be prepared for a rude, cold and white awakening! Not only does it snow here, but there are some of the highest peaks in the world, ascending to well over 20,000ft (this is not “trekking” territory, this is full-on mountaineering landscape!) However, these are just the highest peaks, so of course, rising to meet these are the foothills, the more manageable and less hardcore treks, for the mere mortals among us. And while it may not be Everest Base Camp, the views are equally as breath taking, with deep, wide valleys and soaring jagged snow-capped peaks.
Away from the ruggedness of the Himalayas and the countless number of treks available here, the scenery is much more befitting that of Tibet, with beautiful pagoda-like buildings and small isolated villages half way up the jagged rocks, or rolling fields further down. This is not a “kick back and relax” kind of place, but your efforts will be very well rewarded with epic vistas, icy rivers, waterfalls and forested valleys

WeatherAbout the Weather

This very high elevation region of India has a cold desert climate, with cold weather dominating from Nov to Mar. Nights are particularly cold, often dropping below -15°c. Skies during this time are often clear though, but warm weather is unknown. Apr and May see warmer days but cold nights and lower humidity, with sunshine at its peak during this season. Jun to Sep is warm or very warm, with the only rains of the year at this time, although these are very light and occasional, nights can however still be chilly. Autumn cools rapidly, but with increasing sunshine after the slightly cloudier summer
