How about a trip to Iceland

Iceland Jul

SummaryA Brief Summary

Iceland probably doesn’t need any explanation, introduction or help to sell itself, but it would be rude not to try. Yes it’s cold here. Yes the winters are dark and yes the drinks are expensive. But, where else in the world can you drive on a glacier in the morning, see 2 continents being pulled apart at lunchtime, watch in awe as some spectacular waterfalls cascade over the treeless terrain and then settle back into a thermally heated lagoon in the evening? Answer… nowhere!
Iceland really is a truly unique country and while it is physically barren in parts, unusually, this just adds to the appeal, knowing you are somewhere you shouldn’t find utterly stunning to behold, but you do!
You cannot come to Iceland and not see it’s capital, Reykjavik (you physically can’t!), but neither should you, it is a low-rise city with few buildings taller than 4 storeys and well spread out, but everything you’ll want to see and do are within walking distances of the centre and, find your way around and you’ll come across great shopping and dining, some great bars (Icelanders love a drink!), museums, theatres and music venues.
Just make sure, whatever time of year you come, bring something warm… even in the height of summer it can get nippy here!

WeatherAbout the Weather

Cold, windy and cloudy for much of the year. Days above 20°c are unusual, even in Jul (the warmest month). Peak sunshine is seen in May, with Nov – Feb limited to barely an hours sunshine a day due to the northerly position on the edge of the arctic circle. Wet, windy and stormy weather can occur at any time of the year, but is common from Oct – Apr
