How about a trip to Honduras
A Brief Summary
Roughly equivalent to Bulgaria in size, central American Honduras has a large number of appealing reasons to visit. The beaches on its long Caribbean coastline are superb with mostly shallow warm waters and fantastic diving and snorkelling and while not peppered with high rise hotels and bars every 5 feet, there are a large number of charming little resorts and places along these stretches of soft white sand.
Inland, Honduras is rugged and mountainous, but being tropical in location, often densely forested. Given its volcanic origin the soils here are richly fertile and result in a very agricultural way of life and income stream. This however can come under significant challenge during severe weather such as hurricanes though so it is critical to be aware of any such storms heading towards the country.
Some of the worlds finest coffee is grown in Honduras (and neighbouring Guatemala), along with abundant sugar cane and a vast range of tropical fruits. Holiday companies are increasingly seeing this part of central America as an adventure playground, and rightly so, with biking, kayaking, trekking and jungle exploration to ancient Mayan temples and villages. So if you’re feeling active, but also want the chance to get a feel of Caribbean life, the tropics, and some stunning scenery, then Honduras might just be where you’ve been looking for!

About the Weather
Hot and humid year-round with lowland areas often around 30-32°c and highland areas a few °c’s cooler. Nov – Apr is the drier, sunnier time of year across Honduras with 8-9 hours sunshine a day and very little rain, while the period May – Oct significantly wetter and more humid. Honduras can be hit by hurricanes during this period, which because of the limited infrastructure and mountainous terrain, can mean severe flash-flooding, considerable fatalities and significant damage to infrastructure, including roads and communications.
