How about a trip to Haiti All
A Brief Summary
Haiti is very unlike virtually all other Caribbean countries. A large part of this can be attributed to the fact it is considerably poorer than every other Caribbean nation, it is the most populous of all Caribbean nations, and through poor geographical positioning as well as the high degree of poverty, has been inflicted with some catastrophic events in recent years, from huge earthquakes to hurricanes.
All that being said, it is a naturally beautiful place, sharing the island of Hispanola with the Dominican Republic and offers a mixture of rainforests, mountains, waterfalls, jungle, rivers and beaches, as well as long and sadly chequered history.
While long package holidays here simply don’t exist at present, cruise ships are increasingly docking here, so seeing this much more raw and rugged side to the Caribbean is possible, albeit for a limited, but great value, time!

About the Weather
Hot, humid and sunny for most of the year. A lengthier dry period from Dec – Mar sees slightly cooler (31°c) weather than the hotter summer period (May – Oct… averaging 33°c). The period May – Oct can see severe hurricanes strike the island and with very limited infrastructure or communications, damage can be extreme and cause days, weeks or months of severe impacts to life
