About the Weather
On the Atlantic coast on the far western reaches of the African continent, this region has an extreme tropical monsoon climate. Hot weather dominates year-round with very little change in temperature from month to month, averaging 29-32°c. Rainfall and sunshine levels however vary more dramatically here than almost anywhere else on earth. Nov to Apr is almost totally dry and sunny, with rain very rare. A very short transition in May sees rains and humidity increase. Jun to Oct is exceptionally wet and sees extraordinary amounts of rain falling. Humidity nears 100% and sunshine levels drop to less than 2 hours a day during the peak of the rain in Jul and Aug. Further inland across Guinea, the changes are less dramatic the nearer to the Sahara you get, with less rain, on fewer days and more extreme heat.
