How about a trip to Finland South

Finland South Jan

SummaryA Brief Summary

Despite the fact Finland isn’t much smaller than Germany, its population is less than 1/12th that of its southerly comparison. The vast majority of whom live in the far south of the country. This is due to the fact the climate here is the most temperate in the country, with the warmest summers and least frigid winters, it is also exceptionally well connected to its neighbours of Estonia, Sweden, Russia, Latvia and Poland. Were it not for Finland’s frigid climate and difficult geography, this country would almost certainly make more lists of the worlds most liveable locations. Crime is low, democracy is high and the quality of living standards are high and increasing. Its capital Helsinki is a real beacon of “nice places to live” due to the aforementioned facts and that it is the cultural, economic and art capital of the country and fast being seen as the next “new place” to go in Europe, so why not beat the crowds and get here before they find out what they’re missing!

The far south of Finland sees the country’s sunniest and warmest summers, but also some of its dullest winters. Jun is the sunniest month with 10 hours a day on average, while Nov to Jan sees barely an hour of weak sunshine a day. Temperatures above 30°c are uncommon, even in summer and while average nights in winter are around -8°c, extremely cold air can descend causing temperatures to plummet below -30°c.
