Similar in size to Israel, El Salvador is a small central American country on the shores of the Pacific Ocean. What it lacks in size it more than makes up for in history, geology, scenery and adventure! A land of more than 300 rivers, but only one truly navigable river gives you an indication of how remote some parts of this country are, with a high central plateau, moderate (in both size and activity) volcanos high mountain lakes and coastal plains, this is a country where you need to have your wits about you in every single way. The going over the rough terrain is hard work, made harder by the high humidity and temperatures. San Salvador, the country’s capital, is typical of many in this part of central America, with significant ties to Spanish invasions and occupation, all very evident from the architecture and culture here.
