How about a trip to Dominica
A Brief Summary
Dominica is a lesser-known and less frequently visited Caribbean Island, in between Martinique and Guadeloupe and 200km north of St Lucia. It is one of the less developed and more rugged windward islands, with tropical rainforests abundant in the hilly landscape. A relatively new, volcanic island, Dominica is much more renowned for its natural wonders such as its boiling lakes, waterfalls and narrow gorges, along with vivid-coloured parrots, rather than long stretches of sandy beach. That’s not to say there aren’t some beautiful sandy bays and coves, as there are, but they just take a little more finding than in say St Lucia, or Antigua… but surely that makes it all the more worthwhile? The capital is a small town called Roseau, with a population equivalent to a small football stadium. With colourful houses and a hub of export activity for bananas, oranges and cocoa. If you’re after a more authentic and adventurous Caribbean island.. there aren’t many that beat Dominica!

About the Weather
Dominica is part of the windward chain of islands in the eastern reaches of the Caribbean Sea. A hilly, heavily forested island that has a true tropical climate with no dry months throughout the year, hot and humid weather year-round and consistent amounts of sunshine. The driest and sunniest months, like most of the Caribbean islands, are from Feb to Apr, while the wettest are from July to Sep, with humidity rising during the wettest months. Sunshine peaks at over 8hrs a day in Apr, dropping to 6hrs per day in Dec. Dominica is within the north Atlantic hurricane belt and experiences the indirect effects of these storms most years, and infrequently is directly hit. Temperatures above 35°c and below 18°c are unknown and remain stable throughout the year.
