How about a trip to Chile Central
A Brief Summary
The central region of Chile extends from Concepcion in the south, through the capital region of Santiago and on to Antofagasta in the north and during this 1,800km stretch, the terrain changes markedly. From Lush forested and hilly woodland on the coast, to arable fertile plains inland, the southern central area of Chile is the country’s agricultural heartland. By the time you reach Santiago further north, the land is far more mountainous with only the valleys providing lands for crops and grazing. Santiago itself is a densely packed city less than 100km from the coast, occupying a place at the foothills of the Andes and is a city steeped in history, chiefly from the colonisation of the Spanish, but with heavy Inca influences. It is the country’s political, cultural and economic centre and one of the most stable capital cities in South America in political terms

About the Weather
Chile’s central region sees a near-Mediterranean climate, with almost rainless, very sunny, hot summer months (Dec – Feb) and cool showery winters (Jun – Aug). Extremes here are more moderated than the European equivalents with very hot days rare and very cold winters also unusual. Sunshine levels peak in Dec and Jan and are at their lowest in Jun and Jul, averaging 360 hours a month in Dec and Jan to 125 in Jun and Jul. Temperatures average 30°c in summer and 15°c in winter. Spring (Sep – Nov) and autumn (Mar – May) are dry, mild and sunny, with the only appreciable rainfall during the winter months. This is however highly dependent on El Nino / La Nina, with the former bringing heavier rains and the latter often bringing droughts. Humidity is high year-round with the influence of the cold Pacific
