The southern stretches of this vast central African country are occupied by savannah lands, with scrub and bush on large open plains, but also feature some high and rocky escarpments and canyons. The very far south of the country is surprisingly green with large forested areas and arable land. The majority of the population live in rural areas and subsistence farming is their way of life and as a result the population here is spread out thinly over a vast area, with a huge number of small villages most often found within 20-30 miles of a water source. It is also an exceptionally poor country, both monetarily and infrastructurally, so don’t expect anything other the most basic of provisions outside the very largest towns
