Temperatures throughout central Bangladesh remain high year-round. Only during Dec and Jan do daytime temperatures regularly drop below 28°c. Humidity levels are high at all times, but especially so from Jun to Sep when they frequently surpass 90% for days at a time. Rainfall amounts from Nov to Mar are minimal, with the country being bright or sunny during this period. Apr is a transition month with rains increasing and sunshine levels dropping. May to Sep is very wet, often exceptionally so. Rain falls on most days in the form of torrential downpours lasting hours, sunshine levels drop considerably and flooding is common and often a significant restriction on movement within the country. Oct sees the rains abating and sunshine slowly returning as the monsoon rains retreat. Tropical cyclones are also common during the monsoon rains and often bring widespread destruction and loss of life.
