How about a trip to Australia The Outback

Australia The Outback Jun

SummaryA Brief Summary

A land of very, very little except mile after mile of well maintained highway connecting you to remote settlement after remote settlement. You really do feel many, many miles away from a trendy bar or relaxing bath here… primarily because that’s exactly what you are! That being said, every few hundred miles or so (that’s nothing out here), towns or even the odd city (Alice Springs) emerge into view where a good beer and a warm shower will greet you. There are even luxury abodes and tented paradises out here for those with cash to burn and twinkling stars to see at night. And of course, Uluru… (Ayres Rock to you and I), the worlds largest monolith, although you’d better really, really like rocks as this is a very long way to come to see a big stone!
A word of caution… This is not a place for aimlessly driving around and hoping you come across something or somewhere. The outback has as many people in it as a busy pub, yet is as large as much of Europe… your chances of randomly being “found” if you run out of fuel or water on an untrodden path are as likely as winning the lottery on the same day that you got engaged, got promoted and your team beat their biggest rivals! It is a beautiful place, but plan everything to the hour… then double-check it and tell people what you’re doing and where you’re going!

WeatherAbout the Weather

Australia’s dry, hot and sunny heart sees little reliable rain and extensive sunshine. Heatwaves are common in all months from Oct to Apr, with temperatures from Nov – Mar averaging 40° by day and above 20°c by night. Much colder (below freezing) nights are seen from May – Aug, during the driest time of year here. Humidity levels are generally low and months can pass without significant rains. Occasional storms bring flash flooding and disruption to the region, but only occur a few times a year at most. For most of the year skies are cloudless and winds very light.
