How about a trip to Australia Northern NT

Australia Northern NT Jan

SummaryA Brief Summary

This region of Australia has some significant contrasting landscapes, ranging from the scrubland and savannah-type flatlands and grasslands, through the hills and greenery of the Kakadu National Park in the north and on to the tropical beaches and estuaries of the far north of the State. The full northeast of the region is home to Arnhem Land, a very remote region of rivers, swamps and trees where navigation can be exceptionally difficult and creatures such as crocodiles roam free, while the northwest is home to the State’s only large town, Darwin, a town not largely associated with anything in particular, compared to many of Australia’s other towns with focus on tourism, finance, agriculture, culture or exporting natural goods.  This is the part of Australia you come to if you really want to do something a little different and explore Crododile Dundee territory, it is not for the faint of heart, or those looking for a surfing break that’s for sure!

WeatherAbout the Weather

Darwin has an extreme 2-season climate, with a very wet “summer” season, from November to March and an almost completely dry “winter” season, from May to September. October and April are short transition months between these seasons. Temperatures remain around 31°c throughout the year by day and between 20 and 26°c at night (July and December respectively). Temperatures below 15°c are rare. Severe flooding can and often does occur any time from December to March during the heaviest of the rains, when the city experiences more thunderstorms and lightning strikes than almost any other place on earth. It is still relatively bright during this time with 6 hours of sunshine a day between the torrential downpours. The dry winter months from May to September are almost completely cloudless, with August the sunniest and driest month and with much lower humidity and cooling breezes.
