How about a trip to Armenia
A Brief Summary
A heavily religious country, a small region of the former USSR, Armenia is a mountainous and rugged land, with few large settlements away from it’s capital, Yerevan. Lake Sevan in the north occupies around 15% of its area and the southeast of the country is very mountainous with many areas impassable in winter with deep valleys and high peaks.. think an extreme version of the Lake District! That does however make for an extremely good destination for those of you are looking for somewhere and something active. To come here and try to do as little as possible is akin to flying to the moon for a great sunset.. a complete waste of time. No the infrastructure isn’t as developed as similarly topographical European nations… but that is surely all part of the appeal!

About the Weather
Cold, cloudy and often snowy winters (Dec – Feb) give way to warm, showery springs across Armenia. The transition to hot sunny summer months of Jun – Sep can be quick, with temperatures regularly pushing 35°c by day, although nights are relatively cool. Summers are very sunny though with only a few showers. Autumn starts of warm and sunny but as with spring, rapidly changes and by Nov is cool and cloudy with light rain or snow common.
