Perth sees a slightly milder and sunnier-than-average Mediterranean climate, very similar to that of Cape Town, with very sunny, hot summers and warm, bright but wet winters. As with most other major cities in Australia, summer months are prone to extreme heatwaves and Perth frequently sees days from December to February over 40°c, but these are often accompanied by very low humidity and breezes, making the conditions more bearable. Sunshine levels are very high from October to April, with December to February particularly sunny. April and May are warm, but increasingly wet and overcast, June to August is mild, cloudier and noticeably wetter, with significant rainfall. September and October quickly become sunny and warm, with decreased rainfall amounts.
