How about a trip to Micronesia, Fed. Sts. All

The total land mass of Micronesia is equivalent to that of city-state Singapore. But, the area of water covered by the 2,000 tiny islands in the mid-west Pacific is enormous… on a par with the size of Australia, enormous!!! No surprise then that by far and away the primary source of income in these islands is from fishing and the sale of fishing rights across the vast swathes of open ocean.
From a tourist perspective, these islands are notoriously difficult to reach and yet it is that very isolation that often draws people in who just want to be on a quiet, beautiful sandy beach, with only a few other people around, at an expensive hotel, being served fabulous cocktails and sampling some of the freshest seafood on the planet. If those things truly appeal and you don’t mind the 24+-hour flights from Europe, then you really must visit… if none of that is your thing, then perhaps don’t.
