How about a trip to Guam All
A Brief Summary
Guam is a tiny island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, roughly 2,000km from the Philippines and one of the US’s many unincorporated territories around the world, such that people born in Guam have rights to an American passport, but cannot vote in US elections.
While rightly famed for the many US bases on the island, Guam is also a well-catered for tourist resort, particularly for those 3-4 hours flight away in such places as Korea, Taiwan and ironically, Japan, given the island hosted a huge fleet of military personnel geared up to to fight Japan in WW2. The large number of hotels here belies the islands size and with large shopping outlets (duty free), malls and a significant diving business, there really is a surprising amount of things to do in such a remote and small location. That being said, getting here is no easy feat from Europe, taking at least 18 hours, but if your wallet / purse need a little exercise and you fancy a very American tropical beach that isn’t in Hawaii, Puerto Rico or the Virgin Islands… maybe this is your place!
