How about a trip to Guadeloupe
A Brief Summary
Rising to nearly 5,000ft the peaks of Guadeloupe, a French overseas Department, highlight the mountainous-degree of the terrain here, perhaps more so than any other island group in the Antilles. Butterfly-shaped Guadeloupe has 2 distinct main islands. Basse-Terre has waterfalls, dense forests, large national parks and a moderately active volcano (La Grande Soufriere.. although no major eruption since 1976). While Grande-Terre has long, soft-sand beaches and large sugarcane fields on its slightly less extreme terrain.
To see a little more of Guadeloupe and determine for yourself if this is the sort of place you wouldn’t mind seeing more of, perhaps watch a few episodes of Death in Paradise, filmed here portraying the fictional island of Saint Marie!

About the Weather
Hot and humid year-round. Slightly wetter than the average Leeward Caribbean islands due to significant elevations and topographic rainfall, including the worlds most intense 1-min rainfall total, of 1.5″ in 1970. Sunshine remains consistent throughout the year averaging 7-8 hours per day, more so on the sheltered western side of the island. The wet season from May – Nov sees likely impacts of hurricanes, although direct hits only occur every few years.
