How about a trip to Democratic Republic of the Congo All
A Brief Summary
The west of the DRC is by far the most densely populated region of this large country and one where its true colours shine through most clearly. Lying on the banks of the vast River Congo, the second largest river in the world by volume, is the country’s largest city and capital, Kinshasa, today a city of 17 million people, but forecast to be the most populous city in the world by 2050 with an astonishing 60 million inhabitants. An already poor country with inferior living standards will need to successfully trade on its vast natural resources if it stands a chance of sustainably housing and feeding such an enormous growth in its residents.. something it has struggled to do for many decades. Geographically this country is dominated by forests, rivers and agricultural land and the western regions are the flatter regions of the sprawling nation. If you’re looking for a travel destination that provides simple, easy access to modern facilities and creature comforts… the DRC is not for you, but if you’re looking for a real back-to-basics adventure and to get to places few have tried, or dared to, this might be an option to consider. If you want real exploration and true isolation from anything even remotely modern or westernised, try (you’ll need to try hard), eastern DRC. A true land of wilderness and unexplored forests and vast national parks

About the Weather
A short, very warm, dry season exists here from Jun to Sep, with temperatures of 28°c and almost no rain. Oddly for a warm and very dry period, sunshine levels are also low averaging only 4 hours a day with leaden skies commonplace. Oct to May is much wetter and a little more humid, but also warmer by 2-3°c during the day. Sunshine levels increase a little, peaking in Mar at 6 hours a day. Rains are heavy during this time, especially in Nov which is markedly the wettest month of the year
