How about a trip to Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe Jun

SummaryA Brief Summary

In recent years, Zimbabwe has conjured up images of a despot dictator handing out his own form of brutal justice to anyone who frankly isn’t / wasn’t in complete agreement with his ways of thinking, and, funnily enough, this caused tourists to steer well clear of the country in which some truly vile atrocities were taking place.  Now, we’re not here to pretend this is a country now smelling entirely of roses given his passing, but things are considerably brighter than they were even only a handful of years ago, and in African terms, that is rapid progress and Zimbabweans should be praised for this.
The country is home to a large number of National Parks and while perhaps not as impressive in scale as some of those in Kenya or South Africa, they’re home to a huge number and diversity of wildlife which you may well miss on your trips to more prestigious safaris, including elephants, antelope, giraffe, hippo etc.
Unlike many countries in central southern Africa, where the capital city is merely an entry and exit point to better things elsewhere, Zimbabwe’s capital, Harare, is a little different.  While we wouldn’t suggest spending a week here, the friendliness of the locals and their desire to draw in tourism and trade has created a really quite charming city with a cosmopolitan feel, and somewhere you could very easily find yourself for a weekend before / after heading out in your 4×4’s, with your crazy big camera lenses hoping to get that National Geographic cover photo!
