How about a trip to United States Alaska

United States Alaska Jun

SummaryA Brief Summary

Alaska is, as Hawaii is, disconnected from the remaining contiguous (connected) United States, and it’s big. Big enough to swallow France whole, 3 times over and leave room for dessert! It is also a long way from being a simple place to get around, not only due to its size, but the climate here and sheer vastness means road-building wasn’t ever a top priority. Getting to and from key strategic sights is relatively straight forward in summer and you have a number of options, from plane, to sea plane and road. In winter… well, unless you’re here for the mind-blowingly good skiing, perhaps just come in the summer!
The scenery here is wonderous in all seasons. Summer presents warmth and hues like few other places, all adorning steep mountains which cascade into deep blue waters or river valleys. Winter is white. Everywhere. But beautiful with it and the place has a very different feel depending on the season. If you’re an indoorsy-type then don’t come to Alaska, life here is about living outside and getting in and among some spectacular nature, be it the mountains, the pine forests, the arctic north, polar bear spotting, whale watching, skiing, hiking, biking or kayaking or hoping to spot the bears salmon fishing on one of the many huge rivers in the State.
Alaska is actually fairly easy to get to nowadays, but does require some planning and grit while you’re here, but it honestly is well, well worth it!

WeatherAbout the Weather

Central Alaska is removed from the moderating influences of the Atlantic or Arctic Oceans and as a result sees lower temperatures then elsewhere across this region. Lows of -40°c are common in winter and snowfall is frequent, if not particularly heavy. Spring and Autumn months see cool weather with light snow or rain, however while spring is very sunny, autumn is much more overcast and more akin to winter in terms of sunshine levels. Summers are warm and sunny, especially Jun and Jul, with heatwaves bringing temperatures well above 30°c from Jun to Aug. Winter begins in earnest in late Oct and lasts through until early Apr.
