How about a trip to Uganda

Uganda Jun

SummaryA Brief Summary

By African standards, Uganda is small, but is in fact roughly the size of Romania. If it were known for one thing, it is probably the immense natural diversity of its flora, but in particular fauna, most notable of all; gorillas! If it is gorillas you seek (be they in the mist or clear sunny day!), then you’ll need to plan well, well in advance! Permits to visit and track these creatures are accessible, but only in small numbers and sell out months, or years in advance! If primates aren’t your thing, but lions, hippos etc are, then fear not, Uganda has you covered, with all the big 5 and many more found across the vast national parks of this delightful country.
Uganda is a strange place in many ways. The people have endured many, many years of significant troubles (a polite way of saying devastating wars!), but they have come through this as some of the friendliest and most genuine people on the entire continent. Tourism is still in its infancy here, but what they lack in 5* accommodation, they more than make up for in 5* hospitality and welcoming behaviour.
The immense Lake Victoria to the south, is fed by multiple vast river networks cutting through dense, lush jungle, with significant mountain ranges to the extremes of all compass points away from the heart of the country. The cities here (well, city of Kampala and many smaller towns) are not geared up for tourism and traffic among other things can be utter hell, but, and it’s a whoppingly large but… once you’ve arrived and got out of the city, you’ll be in a country blessed with incredible wildlife, great people and somewhere that in 10-15 years time will surely be the next Kenya or Tanzania, but you’ll have been there first. Won’t you!

WeatherAbout the Weather

At an average moderate elevation of 1,200m, Uganda avoids the excessive heat of low-lying countries around it, averaging just below 30°c by day for much of the year and between 17 and 18°c at night. Sunshine and rainfall totals also seldom vary from month to month with the sunniest and driest weather (albeit not by a great deal), coming in Feb, Jun and Jul, with the wettest month being Apr.
