How about a trip to Norway North
A Brief Summary
The far north of Norway is about as rugged as it gets, especially during the winter months. Not only is it very cold and very dark, but the terrain is unforgiving, mountainous and either barren or densely forested. Only a couple of areas here are very much on the tourist radar, despite their latitude. Tromsø is the first and a renowned port of call, quite literally, for cruise ships plying their trade in the northern reaches of Europe. While a small city, well inside the arctic circle, it is remarkably vibrant, upbeat and cultural, with great food and a thriving nightlife to boot! Oh… and the scenery here is insane! with narrow inlets, high hills and mountains, valleys and rivers in just about every direction. Further north still, you’ll find Svalbard, a true arctic settlement, but a small one at that, often with more polar bears that people. Getting here is tricky, staying here is technically very easy, with unlimited access and visitation / settling rights, although the bitter cold, remoteness and isolation often put people off the latter of those options rather quickly

About the Weather
The completely sunless winters from late Oct to early Feb are surprisingly mild this far north, with the influence of the Atlantic bringing far warmer weather to this region that is seen elsewhere at this latitude. Days average 0°c from late Oct to early Apr and nights are always below -5°c, often much lower. Apr is the first relatively sunny month, but May is the first month of the year where temperatures can reach 20°c, although they seldom do until late Jun. May to Jul is fairly sunny, although given the 24-hours daylight, not exceptionally so and still cool for most of the time, although rare incursions above 25°c do occur. Autumn is cool or cold and increasingly overcast. Rain is seen in all months, with snowfall, sometimes heavy, in winter
