About the Weather
While centred in a country heavily impacted by the Asian monsoon, central Myanmar sees far less rainfall than elsewhere in the country, shadowed by the Arakan Mountains preventing a high proportion of the rainfall reaching here from May to Oct. This period still sees heavy and thundery showers during this time, but far less than would be expected, however, with light winds, temperatures above 34°c and high humidity, it is still a very oppressive time of year here. The rest of the year is hot (31°c), dry and very sunny. Temperatures can reach in excess of 44°c during Apr and May, but rarely drop below 22°c at night, except from Dec to Feb.
