How about a trip to Mexico West Coast

Mexico West Coast Jun

SummaryA Brief Summary

Of all Mexican states, Jalisco quite possibly offers the most of what typifies Mexico more than any other, all wrapped up in a relatively small package. Geographically diverse, from its Pacific coastline to rugged interior, it’s stereotypical exports and large, vibrant cities.
Guadalajara is Mexico’s second largest city and one that despite its size, is eminently walkable, taking in its colonial-era architecture, often surrounding large, but pretty plazas, palaces, cathedrals and its historic centre.
Puerto Vallarta is, superficially at least, like many large resorts in the Mediterranean, with wide sweeping sandy beaches, deep blue waters, numerous harbours and marinas, all backed by restaurants, bars, huge array of shops and palm-lined walkways. The only recognisable difference being the lush jungles, waterfalls and forests just a stones throw away.
Away from the cities, Jalisco is rugged and beautiful, with a variety of landscapes to tempt you, from semi-desert high plateau, to deep ravines and gorges and vast lakes. This Czech Republic-sized state is difficult to ignore all things considered!
Colima is one of those states which, on paper, has a lot to offer. Fabulous beaches, quaint old towns and cities and great scenery, but dig a little deeper and you’ll see it’s not often frequented by the tourist market. The capital, Colima, and surrounding towns such as Tecoman and Manzanillo, have done a lot to try and lure tourists away from more popular Jalisco further north and they’re slowly succeeding, but this will take time, so if you do find yourself here, it’ll probably be passing through rather than making a concerted effort to visit.
If you are after a really authentic Mexican vibe, positive and negative, then Colima will give you that in spades!
There is the very real and distinct possibility that if things go according to plan, the state of Nayarit on Mexico’s west coast, will become the new place to go to in the country.  It’s not a state that immediately springs to mind and has no single “lure” for tourists in the sense of a large town or city on which a traveller can centre their travels around, but what it does have is understated, delightful, and occasionally stunning beaches, pretty little hill-towns, quiet seaside resorts and widely considered to be the birthplace of the Aztec civilisation for those who like their history less “recent”.

WeatherAbout the Weather

2 very distinct seasons are found in this western region of Mexico. Hot, dry, sunny months from Nov to May with average temperatures of 26-29°c by day and 8-10°c lower at night and a much wetter period from Jun to Oct, with highs of 32°c and abundant rain, heaviest from Jul to Sep. Rare very hot days of 43°c or more can be seen from May to Jul. Sunshine from Jul to Sep is also greatly reduced and this area is prone to eastern Pacific hurricanes, which while rare, can bring extremely wet and windy weather for a day or two and accompanying landslides, often resulting in a number of casualties and travel disruption
