How about a trip to Martinique

Martinique Jun

SummaryA Brief Summary

As with most of the Caribbean, the island of Martinique has had a turbulent past. Today Martinique is to France what Bermuda is to the UK, an overseas department / territory. Signs and placenames are French, the official language is French and the food is heavily French / Creole-based.
It’s capital, Fort-de-France is a small but busy place, located on the western coast with a large harbour, increasingly docked by cruise liners and yachts bobbing their way around the Caribbean.
The island is a rugged, lush and volcanic and mountainous place, with Mount Pelee as it’s highest and most active point, and the reason for Martinique’s capital no longer being Saint Pierre, having been all but wiped off the map in 1902.
There isn’t a great deal of sightseeing to be done here, your time will either be on the glorious beaches to the south of the island, or adventuring in the hills above, but for a little taste of France in the warm Caribbean… it’s a wonderful little island
