How about a trip to Italy Central Spine
A Brief Summary
Head a little inland and north from Italy’s capital Rome, and you reach Tuscany. Images beautifully captured in the opening sequences of the Gladiator, really do sum up the appearance of the Tuscan region. Gentle rolling hills, vineyards for miles, wonderful villas dotted sporadically, lovely little hillside villages and fabulous food to be paired with even more fabulous wine, this is a true gem of Europe, let alone Italy. At the northern end of Tuscany, is Florence, a city of fame and beauty and an artistic and architectural delight. There really isn’t much else to be said for this region… and not in a bad way, it is a glorious place and one which will undoubtedly capture your hearts from the minute you arrive until… well, probably for a long, long time after you’ve departed.

About the Weather
Italy’s central Apennines have a very warm, often hot summer climate, with considerable sunshine and heavy, but infrequent showers. Temperatures of 40°c are not unheard of and nights are warm, although seldom very warm due to the elevation. Winters are a complete contrast, with leaden skies, moderate rainfall and are often windy, with highs averaging a little below 10°c and nights often freezing, or very close. Spring is bright and cool until May which is sunny but showery and warm, occasionally hot. Autumn is mostly warm and humid, with heavy showers and mostly bright skies before late Oct
