How about a trip to France Northeast
A Brief Summary
Grand Est is a region in eastern France, bordering no less than 4 countries: Belgium and Luxembourg to the north, Germany to the west and Switzerland to the south. The west and southwest of the region is rugged, hilly and even mountainous, with the east far flatter and more agricultural. The east of the region is perhaps the least “French” of all the regions of mainland France, with significant Germanic influence, not only attested to by the language influences, but the architecture, history and culture.
The north sees some dense and hilly forest and surprisingly remote terrain, but with some beautiful scenery and really picturesque little villages dotted amongst the trees and rivers. Further south is also forested and undulating, with few large settlements, instead small towns like that of Vittel (of bottled water fame) have sprung up and made use of the resources of the land.
To the east is the treasure of this region. Champagne country and the only place in the world legally allowed to call their sparkling wine “champagne”. The champagne houses here range from the small and humble producing only hundreds of bottles a year, to the vast global superpowers such as Moet or Veuve Clicquot and the grandeur of some of the properties here attached to the vineyards needs to be seen to be appreciated

About the Weather
Far north eastern France has a climate seeing appreciable and consistent rain in every month of the year, but with no truly wet month. Winter rains tend to be light and frequent, while summer rains heavier and less frequent, sometimes thundery. Very hot days in summer are unusual, but increasingly common in recent years, with highs approaching 40°c once or twice a year, often in Jul or Aug, this is a long way above the average 25°c expected in these months. Sunshine levels in summer are around 7-8 hours a day from Jun to Aug. Winter months are gloomy, damp and cool, with very cold weather seen a few times a year when winds come in the from the north or east. Spring is bright and mild, and can be very warm, but also sees infrequent cold weather in Mar and Apr. Autumn is warmer than spring, but also more overcast and susceptible to heavy and thundery showers
